“”We purchased a Toshiba laptop for our daughter a year and a half ago! After 6 months the hard drive crashed and after MANY calls, all of which I had to initiate they never called back when they said they would, they finally replaced the hard drive. They made NO EFFORT to save any of the data on the broken hard drive. Guess what? After 11 months the hard drive crashed AGAIN! I was told that the computer what out of warranty, the replaced hard drive only had a 30 day warranty. They offered to replace the hard drive for $300 … are they NUTS. They have already provide me with 2 BAD hard drives and now they want me to pay for a third. Also, please note that again NO ONE EVER returned my calls. When they said they would call back within 72 hours I waited an entire week. No Call, I called them back. I was also told that because my original warranty was expired over 6 months ago there was nothing they could do. When I pointed out the fact that it was only 6 days past 6 months and that when I made the call, that no one returned, it was under 6 months. Then they said, well even if had been under 6 months their still wasn’t anything that they could do. So I concluded that the “6 month line” was some standard line and when I called them on it they just back peddled. The computer may work just fine at first, but what really counts is what the company does when things don’t go perfectly and I can tell you that Toshiba WILL NOT be there for you. Avoid this company. I have computers from HP, DELL and Gateway and I can tell you first hand that you will be treated better by any other company. Stay away from Toshiba.”"

I bought my Toshiba in August of 2009. It is actually an A505-S6966. Everything was fine until a coouple of days ago when I turned it on and nothing but vertical lines appeared on the screen. I went to their website and called the number they gave to find out that it might cost between $175-$425 to fix the LCD screen problem that I apparently have. I refused to give them a credit card number and will have to call back to get in touch with a case worker during ‘normal business hours’.
I find it sad that Toshiba will not stand behind it’s product. As anyone can imagine,I am very dissapointed with Toshiba. I own two of their laptops but will not purchase a 3rd.

Great purchase; The AMD processor is fast and the computer comes with all the gadgets. But, there always is a but, the Windows 7 language is only in english and there are no way to change.

I recently purchased this laptop to replace my Dell which stopped working after 2.5 years. This laptop has GREAT features, very solid build, and is extremely fast. I have absolutely no complaints and would recommend this laptop to anyone. The sound is excellent and I especially love the LED backlit keyboard! Toshiba has excellent reliability reviews and this is an all around great product. I opted for the AMD processor vs the slower Intel with the BlueRay player. I have a PS3 with BlueRay and I really don’t see myself needing a BlueRay player on my laptop. I would recommend a Square Guard warranty just for added protection. I purchased the 3 year warranty for only $100.00! WHY WOULDN”T YOU GET THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY FOR ONLY $100????

Nice computer, but the media player sensor buttons are in the way just to the left of the keyboard – always muting it or starting it inadvertently. All the ports are on the sides, so wires and sticks are in your face. Display – Too much reflection.
